Back a few weeks ago my amazing, sweet, generous husband that loves me so much bought me a new wide brimmed hat for the beach. This porcelain skinned ginger–that’s right, porcelain, not pasty–needs all the sun protection she can get. We popped into one of the surf shops, which are generally cheaper than the touristy souvenir shops, to look around. They were having a sale and I found a pretty hat by Billabong.
As we all know, though, the the wind is always there to keep you company on the beach. I had to become very strategic with my movements otherwise the hat went flying. After a quick trip to Hobby Lobby–one of my homes away from home–and a few minutes with a glue gun, my hat had a strap. I used some eye catching beads to double as decoration and to slide up and down to tighten as needed. I took some pictures along the way in case anyone else was wondering how to add a strap to a hat.
It only took about 15 minutes and I was ready to go. I took it out that afternoon for a test drive. We had some rain coming in, so the beach was a little cool and super windy. Prefect conditions to lose anything in the wind, but I never lost my hat.
